Mission Statement

Our mission is to remove plastic waste from the land, oceans and waterways while helping people ascend from poverty and transition into entrepreneurship. The Plastic Bank is setting up re-purposing centers for plastic waste in countries that have an abundance of plastic pollution and poverty. The Plastic Bank empowers people around the world to harvest waste plastic as a currency they can exchange for the items needed to transition out of poverty and into a self-sustaining life of entrepreneurship.

What volunteers have to say ...

"The Plastic Bank is truly going to change the world. Imagine if plastic was accepted as currency that could be exchanged for the necessities needed to alleviate poverty. "

Additional Info

Did you know it’s common in high poverty countries for plastic waste to get dumped into the streets & pushed into ocean bound waterways? Imagine if plastic was accepted as a currency that could be exchanged for the necessities needed to alleviate poverty. Well, you don’t have to imagine because that is exactly what The Plastic Bank is doing…But we need your help. This Autumn over a dozen NGO's and community groups donated shoreline plastics into The Plastics For Change program. The plastics are being recycling by The Plastic Bank into eco-labelled products. Proceeds help to support the development of re-purposing centers. It is a great way of preventing plastic from entering into the ocean in the first place. But we need you to help us sort the plastic for recycling on Nov 23rd. We need volunteers to donate their time to help us sort plastic debris on Saturday November 23rd at Annacis Lock-Up (555 Derwent Way, New Westminster) For more information about how you can involved please contact: Andrew@plasticbank.org subject line: “Sorting Plastic”
